TERENE TAN
HMS SOCIETY
2019 - 2021
HMS Society thrives to bond all the diplomas in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I had to participate in a Leadership Adventure Camp in 2018 and go through two rounds of interviews before getting accepted into Society.
I served this CCA as the Vice-President, where I oversaw various events alongside with the President and vetted through the proposals from different departments. I always also given the opportunity to be the Overall-In-Charge of the Leadership Adventure Camp 2019, where I not only oversaw the planning, but the execution of the event.
Through this leadership journey, I have learnt how to adapt well to the given situation on hand and gained leadership skills to led my team to successful complete a large scaled camp of over 100 participants. Additionally, I was able to hone my communication skills which were essential when working as a team, allowing me to communicate effectively with others to achieve our final goal.
PEER SUPPORT BOARD
2015 - 2017
The Peer Support Board (PSB) focuses on the internal welfare of the school, planning events such as orientation camps, Celebrations@SST, staff appreciation week etc.
In 2015, I joined in the planning of Orientation 2016 where we got to facilitate a secondary one class in groups of 3 which allowed me to hone my facilitation and leadership skills.
In 2016, I obtained the position of Vice-Chairperson. Being part of the exco meant that we got to oversee all of the projects and events that PSB was involved in. Especially with the planning and execution of Orientation 2017 not as a facilitator but as assistant camp master.
